Wallet Terms

How the Washday wallet works. These terms add to our Terms of Use.

1. What the wallet is

Washday is a product of Techytal Design Agency Limited (RC-1903234), a company registered in Nigeria, of 1, Obadina Steet, Abule Oja Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria. In these documents, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Techytal Design Agency Limited, trading as Washday.

The Washday wallet is a prepaid balance for laundry services on Washday. You top it up by bank transfer and spend it on orders at laundries on the platform.

  • It is not a bank account, savings product or e-money account. It earns no interest and is not covered by deposit insurance.
  • The balance can only be spent on laundry orders on this platform. It can't be sent to other people, used for other purchases, or withdrawn on demand.
  • Money you add is held by us in our account with our payment provider, Paystack, until you spend it or we refund it.

2. Opening a wallet

  • You need a verified phone number, and to be at least 18.
  • To meet payment-provider rules, Paystack checks your BVN against a bank account in your own name. We keep only the last 4 digits of your BVN.
  • You get a personal account number to top up. The account name shows our business name and yours.
  • A one-off identity check fee of ₦50 is added to your next laundry bill.

3. Topping up

  • Transfer any amount from any Nigerian bank to your wallet account number. It usually arrives within minutes.
  • Bank charge: Paystack charges 1% of each transfer, up to ₦300. It comes out of what you send, so to add a set amount, send that amount plus the charge — the wallet page works this out for you.
  • Each top-up can be up to ₦200,000. There is no limit on your total balance. Larger single transfers are still credited but may be reviewed.
  • If a top-up hasn't arrived after an hour, message us from Help with your bank's transfer receipt.

4. Paying with your wallet

  • You can pay an order once the laundry has confirmed its price, or choose to pay automatically when it's confirmed.
  • Only you (with your verified phone) can pay from your wallet.
  • If an order paid from your wallet is cancelled, the money goes back into your wallet.

5. Getting unused money back

Withdrawals in the app are coming soon. Until then, you can ask for a refund of your unused balance at any time: go to My account → Help and write to the “Washday team”.

  • Refunds go only to the bank account in your name that was checked when you opened the wallet.
  • We aim to send refunds within 5 working days of your request. Bank transfer charges, if any, are deducted.
  • We may ask you to confirm your identity first, and may delay a refund while we look into suspected fraud.

6. Mistakes, fraud and closing the wallet

  • If money is credited to your wallet by mistake, we may correct it.
  • We may freeze a wallet if we suspect fraud or misuse, or if the law requires it, and will tell you unless the law prevents it.
  • You can close your wallet by deleting your account once the balance is zero (ask for a refund first). We may close a wallet with notice; any balance is refunded as above.
